Passion and Dedication of the Craftsman

The bag series "katazome saisai" was inspired by obi (sash).
Using the cut fabric as a canvas,
the beautiful gradation is expressed
by hand-dyeing one piece at a time while watching the balance.
Modern patterns were selected from more than 100 patterns
hand-carved in the Taisho and Showa periods,
and combined with the hair-dyeing technique,
which is now considered a fantastic technique,
to give depth to the patterns.
Although all the patterns were old and damaged,
we succeeded in reviving them as unique patterns
by combining parts of each pattern.
The fabric is made of "Ultrasuede (R) nu",
Toray's environmentally friendly man-made leather,
which is a vegan material.
All materials and sewing are made in Japan.
