Craft Type: 22Edo Kiriko
Passion and Dedication of the Craftsman
The theme is "Back to the Origin." The starting point of Edo Kiriko is transparency, so clear crystal glass, where its history began, is used, creating a rocks glass that combines the inherent beauty of Edo Kiriko with practicality. The two variations, Matte and Clear, both feature the traditional auspicious tortoiseshell pattern applied to transparent crystal glass--the very origin of Edo Kiriko. They go perfectly with the reflections and light that distinguish Kiriko glass. They have been designed to be a little larger, but still fit in the hand nicely, making them a size you'll be able to use every day.
Cutting out the pattern to the same size and depth might look simple, but requires high levels of skill. The artisan's skill shines in the tortoiseshell patterns applied across the thick, sturdy glass. The Matte version is only polished along the ridges, giving it a special look and feeling of solidity.
