Thoughts come to fruition, in silver.
The pure shine of silver has touched hearts since ancient times. The owner of Ginsen Izumi Ken, Kenichiro Izumi is one such person moved by the material. A master of metal carving and hammer moulding, Izumi can make silver into shapes, and add patterns to it. Pendants, rings, bangles, utensils. The silver worked on by Izumi has shapes and patterns that denote his unique world view. The theme behind his work is “life’s journey”. After graduating from art school, and while travelling around Japan he found the importance of life. Inspired by the force within the things in the universe, this influences the way that he regards what he sees, and inspires a thankfulness for his own existence. “Life’s journey” is perhaps one that allows recognition of life’s preciousness and love. The work that Izumi completes is hence the fruition of the thoughts and moments of joy that he has found within his own “life’s journey”. At times Izumi carves characters with a small chisel into 2mm square boxes. This outstanding ability can not be ascribed to pure skill alone, and has the sense of a power that transcends within its mystery.
