Express Your Individuality with Meticulous Hand Embroidery, Using the Traditional Edo Shishu Techniques

The history of Japanese embroidery dates back approximately 400 years. The introduction of Buddhism saw the beginning of embroidery being used to create Buddha statues. From the 17th century onward, embroidered kimonos became popular among the townspeople. Edo Shishu embroidery has since been recognized as a leading style of Japanese embroidery, alongside the Kyo and Kaga styles.

Edo Shishu is akin to a meticulous painting,at times crafted through the skillful execution of tens of thousands of stitches. The unique luster inherent to silken thread, which changes its brilliance at each subtle angle, makes these pieces highly valuable as works of art, possessing an appeal different from that of paintings or photographs.

Our store is an embroidery shop founded in 1968 (Showa 43) and located in Suginami City. Each piece is meticulously hand-embroidered using the traditional techniques of Edo Shishu, and enhancing the elegance of kimonos and obis (traditional Japanese robes and belts) with embellishments including embroidery, han-eri (half-collars), nui mon (embroidered family crests), and original fashion crests. Creating elegant pieces using the lustrous sheen of silk through Japanese embroidery, the sisters have taken over the family business, preserving the tradition of Edo Shishu while embracing new challenges.

Embroidery is about stitching an expression of your individuality, putting your heart into something precious, while the hand embroidery ensures that you can cherish it and use it for many years to come. By preserving and advancing the traditional technique of Edo Shishu, we hope to contribute to enriching and enhancing your everyday life. As embroidery professionals, our goal is to assist customers in envisioning their ideals, clearly share and meet those expectations, and ultimately deliver a result that goes beyond their imagination, bringing them great joy.
