Edo Karakami paper has been loved in Japan for centuries as a wall covering, and in interior decoration. In the Edo period, it was said there were one thousand classic patterns to adorn high class room designs.
The influence of history, and the imprinted aesthetics of the paper, are illuminated here by this light. With the warmth imparted by craftsperson using a woodblock style passed from the Edo era, the karakami paper frames a light to touch the heart.
